Zaffar Kunial wins a Windham Campbell 2022 Prize

Congratulations to former Douglas Caster Poetry Fellow (2019-2021) Zaffar Kunial who is the recipient of a 2022 Windham-Campbell Prize of $165,000 awarded by Yale University. Zaffar expressed his surprise at the announcement: 'I'm still rubbing my eyes at the news, and at the thought that my slim book made it through the judging process - one I didn't know was happening at all - my world feels wider and kinder. I'm the most shocked I've ever been.'

The other seven recipients of this prestigious world-wide award are: Sharon Bridgforth, Winsome Pinnock, Siphiwe Ndlovu, Margo Jefferson, Emmanuel Iduma, Wing May, and Tsitsi Dangarembga. The awards will be conferred in person at Yale in September.
