Leeds University Poetry Centre Involved in Bi'an Award

A new writing competition has been opened up to UK-based writers of Chinese heritage, supported by Arts Council England, the Arvon Foundation and Stand magazine. The so-called 'Bi'an Award' will be judged by the editors of Stand, Elaine and Jon Glover, Director of University of Leeds Poetry Centre John Whale, and writer, Yan Ge.

Writers will able to submit poems of up to 20 lines, a short story of up to 1000 words, or a five-minute script, in English or Chinese.

Prizes will include free places on the Bi’an Arvon residential writing course, and publication in the prestigious international literary magazine, Stand. Winners will be announced at the Bi’an industry networking event at Northern Stage Theatre on 1st December 2018 and winning entries will be published in the June 2019 issue of Stand.
