Engagement
We collaborate with publishers, festivals, and organisations, including Peepal Tree Press, Ilkley Literature Festival, Carcanet and Leeds Literature Festival, the Poetry School, and the National Poetry Centre, a key University partner.
Poetry@Leeds mentors poets at all stages of development, most recently for Word Up North’s New Northern Poets programme.
We contribute our expertise to judging prizes, including Leeds Peace Poetry Prize, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Staff Poetry Prize, and The Rialto Nature and Place Poetry Prize.
We collaborate with Schools, Centres and Institutes within the University, including the Bragg Centre for Materials Research, the Priestley Centre for Climate Futures and the Centre for New Chinese Writing.
Publications affiliated with Poetry@Leeds include the student magazine Poetry and Audience established in 1953 by Canadian undergraduate Ralph Maude, and Stand magazine, brought to the University in 1960 Gregory Fellow Jon Silkin.
