Engagement

We are always looking to further our engagement with poetry and make our work accessible to new audiences. To explore potential projects and collaborations please contact John Whale.

Stand

Stand magazine's editorial offices are based in the School of English and both staff members and students are often involved in its production. John Whale is Managing Editor of the magazine. Ian Fairley, Caitlin Stobie, and Emma Trott are members of its editorial team.

Leeds Peace Poetry

We are a partner of Leeds Peace Poetry Competition, through which we engage with schools in the Leeds area by offering workshops, organising the judging, and hosting the gala prize-giving. The theme for the 2022 competition was 'Global Health Justice'. Look out for the announcement of the 2023 theme.

Independent publishers

We have worked closely with publishers Peepal Tree, Carcanet, and Arc Publications in our recent programmes of readings by visiting poets.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust

The Poetry Centre joined with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to support their inaugural staff poetry competition in 2021.

Leeds Litt Fest

The Poetry Centre has joined with the Leeds Litt Fest over the last six years, including the most recent collaborative event, Spring Rhythm in March 2023. This year we will be offering 'Midsummer Muse' which will take place at 7pm on 20 June.

The Rialto Nature and Place Poetry Competition

The ULPC has been a partner for the last two competitions. Details of this year's competition are here.
