The University of Leeds Poetry Centre will be taking part in the forthcoming Ilkley Literature Festival from 28th September to 14th October. In a packed and exciting programme, Poetry Centre members and affiliates can be found at the following events:

Voices of Light and Dark: Director of the University of Leeds Poetry Centre, Professor John Whale, will be exploring the theme of light and dark in poems by Simon Armitage, Vahni Capildeo, Ian Duhig and others. Saturday 6th October, Ilkley Playhouse Wildman, 7.15pm-8.15pm (£7/5 concessions).

POSTPONED until further notice. Writers from Singapore: Suchen Christine (S.E. Asia Write Award recipient), Madeleine Lee (Writer-in-Residence at the National Gallery of Singapore), Audrey Chin (winner of the Asian Women Writers Short Story Competition), and multidisciplinary writer Euginia Tan are welcomed to Ilkley for the first time to read from their work. Saturday 6th October, Ilkley Playhouse Wildman, 8.30pm-9.30pm (£7/5 concessions).

Professor of Poetry, Simon Armitage, will read from his translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Night by candlelight. Monday 8th October, 8pm-9pm, St John's Church Ben Rhydding (£14/10 concessions).

New Writing Showcase: Acclaimed poet Imtiaz Dharker introduces some of the best new talent in the region, featuring Jade Cuttle, Hafsar Aneela Bashir and from the Poetry Centre Rachel Bower and Karl O'Hanlon. Tuesday 9th October, Manor House, 7.30-8.30pm (£5).

Songs of Windrush: Vahni Capildeo, Khadijiah Ibrahiim and Malika Booker. Three celebrated poets of Caribbean heritage share their work bringing Windrush stories to life in brand new poetry made with Leeds audiences.  Wednesday 10th October, Ilkley Playhouse, 7pm (£7/5 concessions).
